Alex trained at Wimbledon School of Art, graduating in 1997.
Previous designs include MOLL FLANDERS (KAOS Theatre, National
Tour), R.U.R, WIDOWS and STILL LIFE (Drum Theatre Plymouth),
THE COUNTRY (Belgrade Theatre at Warwick Arts Centre), SERIOUS
MONEY (Cambridge Arts Theatre), ROMEO AND JULIET, AS YOU LIKE
IT, OUR COUNTRY’S GOOD, WEST SIDE STORY, THE WIZARD
OF OZ, MY FAIR LADY, GRIMM TALES, THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE,
BLOOD (Pleasance Edinburgh), GIRLS NIGHT (National Tour),
GIRLS BEHIND (National Tour). TRACTOR GIRLS (National Tour)
and THE WALSINGHAM ORGAN, both of which went to the Pride
Of Place Festival in Salisbury 2002. He was Costume Designer
for IRON (Traverse) at the Edinburgh Festival 2002, which
transferred to the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs in February
2003 and Leipzig Shauspeil, Germany in March 2003. He also
designed THE SUICIDE for Teatro della Contradizione, Milan.
He worked for the Royal National Theatre as Design Associate
on the 2005 production of A DREAM PLAY and was Resident Designer
for E15 Acting School during 2000. He also teaches part time
at Wimbledon School of Art.
He has designed over sixty shows in the last seven years
and assisted on designs for the Royal National Theatre, ENO,
WNO, Opera North, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Kirov Opera,
Long Beach Opera (Los Angeles), Zurich Opera, Tokyo Opera,
New York State Opera, Gothenburg Opera, Malarsalen Theatre
(Stockholm).
He currently lives and works in a small village in London.
